Weekly Trade Review Template

How to use this template: Complete this review every weekend. Block 30-60 minutes on Sunday to analyze your week honestly. Fill in each section using your trading journal data. The traders who improve fastest are the ones who review consistently — not the ones who trade the most.

Week Summary

Week dates

Record the start and end date of the trading week. Example: Monday 3 March - Friday 7 March 2026.
Total trades taken

Count every trade you executed this week. Compare to your planned maximum. More trades doesn't mean more profit.
Win rate this week

Calculate: winning trades / total trades. Compare to your historical average. A single week's win rate means less than the trend over time.
Total pips / P&L

Record your net result in both pips and account currency. Pips show strategy performance. Currency shows actual impact on your account.
Best trade

Identify your best trade of the week. What made it work? Was it the setup, execution, patience, or all three? Document what to repeat.
Worst trade

Identify your worst trade. Was it a plan-compliant loss (acceptable) or a rule violation (needs fixing)? Be specific about what went wrong.

Metrics Review

Win rate

Your percentage of winning trades. Track the trend over weeks, not individual values. A consistent 45% win rate with good R:R is more profitable than 70% with poor R:R.
Average R:R

Average risk-to-reward ratio on closed trades. Are you achieving the R:R your setups target, or are you cutting winners short and letting losers run?
Profit factor

Gross profit / gross loss. Above 1.0 means you're profitable. Above 1.5 is solid. Track this weekly to spot strategy degradation early.
Expectancy

(Win rate x avg win) - (loss rate x avg loss). This is your expected profit per trade. Positive expectancy is the only number that matters long-term.
Max consecutive losses

How many losses in a row did you experience? Did you handle the losing streak with discipline, or did behavior change after loss 2 or 3?

Session Analysis

Which sessions were most profitable

Break down your P&L by session (Asian, London, New York). Over time, this reveals where your edge actually lives — and where you're donating pips.
Which pairs performed best

Rank your pairs by profitability this week. Are you spending time on pairs that consistently underperform? The data will tell you.
Which setups worked

If you trade multiple setups, break down performance by setup type. Double down on what works. Reduce or eliminate what doesn't.

Psychology Check

Emotional state trend this week

Were you mostly calm and focused, or did frustration, fear, or overconfidence dominate? Note which days were hardest and what triggered the shift.
Number of plan-compliant trades

Out of all trades taken, how many followed your trading plan completely? Entry criteria met, proper position sizing, stop loss placed, exit rules followed.
Number of revenge / FOMO trades

Count trades taken out of frustration (revenge) or fear of missing out (FOMO). Even one per week is a pattern worth addressing. Zero is the goal.
Overall discipline score (1-10)

Rate your overall discipline this week. 10 = followed every rule perfectly. 1 = complete chaos. Be honest. Track this number weekly to see your trend.

Pattern Recognition

What worked well (2-3 items)

List 2-3 specific things you did well this week. Good process, not just good outcomes. Example: "Waited for London open confirmation before entering" or "Stopped after daily loss limit on Tuesday."
What needs improvement (2-3 items)

List 2-3 specific areas to improve. Be concrete, not vague. "Reduce position size after 2 consecutive losses" is better than "be more disciplined."
One habit to change next week

Pick one single behavioral change to focus on next week. Just one. Trying to fix everything at once fixes nothing. Nail one habit, then move to the next.

Focus areas

Based on this week's review, what are your 1-2 focus areas? Example: "Only trade A+ setups" or "No trading in Asian session" or "Risk max 0.5% per trade."
Pairs to trade

Which pairs will you focus on next week? Base this on your session analysis data, not on what looks exciting on the chart right now.
Sessions to target

Which trading sessions will you be active in? Align this with your most profitable session data from above.
Risk adjustments

Should you adjust your risk for next week? After a losing week, consider reducing risk to rebuild confidence. After a winning week, resist the urge to size up.
